Discipline «Economic foundation of social work» is a part of the theoretical economics of professional orientation of training.

Currency of the problem of studing discipline determined by necessity of mastering by social workers in a market economy economic knowledge to be used in the practice of social services' activity, particularly, in addressing the guaranteed social protection and social support of citizens.

^ A qualified specialist should examine the features of modern economic relationships between characters of social realm and state, to solve problems of social protection, given the multifaceted forms of economic activity in the economic area, but it requires deep economic knowledge.

^ The purpose of studing the discipline "Economic Basis of Social Work" - mastering the theoretical foundations of economic processes of a modern market economy, the formation of practical skills to use economic knowledge in social work system, the formation of modern economic thinking and outlook of the future social workers.

The task of studing the discipline "Economic Basis of Social Work":

to form a concept of "economy of social work, its complex perception, the ability to analyze contemporary issues of social protection, social, social policy at the present stage of development of Ukraine.

Specialist must know:
  • features of modern economic relationships between actors and the state social services;
  • funding mechanism for social work;
  • particular system of social insurance and a system of medical insurance;особливості;
  • modern problems of employment and social protection of citizens against unemployment;
  • business taxation mechanism of social services;
  • modern problems of social service agencies.

Specialist must be able to:
  • use economic knowledge in the system of social work, given its features;
  • analyze trends and identify and resolve problems in economic relations between the subjects of social services;
  • To be able to analyze the socio-economic policies on social protection and social support of citizens.
