Цель урока: Расширение кругозора учащихся о стране изучаемого языка:
а) формирование и развитие поисково – исследовательской деятельности учащихся, т.е. поиск информации
b) совершенствование умения и навыков практического владения английским языком.
Задачи урока:
- Аудировать рассказ с полным пониманием, с извлечением необходимой информации;
- Рассказать о проекте путешествия перед аудиторией в доступной языковой форме с использованием пройденного материала;
- Воспитывать положительное, уважительное отношение к культуре шотландского народа;

- Сообщение цели урока и введение учащихся в тему.
Teacher: Dear girls and boys! Today we have an unusual lesson. We are going to make “A dream trip to Scotland”. (A map of Great Britain is presented).
Modern means of communication makes the world a small place. Now it is possible to visit many countries and meet people of all nations. There are different aims of travelling abroad. Some people travel on business, the others for pleasure. What aims of travelling would tourists have?
Pp share their opinions (warm up).
Teacher: Yes you quite right. That is why every tourist should learn about a country he travels, shouldn’t he?

Teacher: Let’s discuss what would you like to learn about a country if you were a tourist?

Almost every nation has a reputation of some kind. The French are supposed to be gay and fond of champagne. The Germans are dull, formal, fond of military uniforms and parades, the Americans – boastful, energetic and vulgar. The English are reputed to be cold, reserved, easy-going and fond of sports. The Scots are said to be a serious people and careful with money. They are considered to be inventors of some kinds of sport such as golf, curling and others. They are well-known to be great patriots of their country. They always keep their old customs and traditions even they seem strange to the whole world. Scotsmen are the only nation in Europe where men prefer to wear skirts or kilts, not trousers. They can put them not only at fests or carnivals but at every holiday. Foreigners often picture them dressed in tweeds, walking across the open countryside.

ational costume. Why do Scots wear skirts or kilts?The national costume consists of a linen shirt, checked skirt to up to knees – kilts. Over cloth jacket they wear a plaid on one shoulder, midi socks and shoes with metallic buckles. To sew a kilt you need 6 meters of tartan (checked textile). Tartan signs the bloom of textile and drawing of its stripes Tradittionally their national costume includes Tammy with plume or Tam-o’-Shanter and a fur purse on narrow belt which embraces hips.

- The ancestral language of Welsh people is Welsh Gaelic. Nowadays 750 000 people claiming self-competence in Welsh (27% of the population of Wales)
- Typically Welsh surnames are given names ending in “-s”, such as Williams, Davies, Edwards, Lewis, Hughes, but also names like Owen, Lloyd, Morgan.
- Welsh people descend from the Celto-Romens that lived in what ie now England and Wales in Roman times. Then the population was displaced and confined to the hilly regions in the west of Great Britain by the Angles, Saxons and Jutes in the 5-6 centuries.
- The English name for Wales originates from the Germanic word Walha, meaning “stranger” or “foreigner”, which is related to the word “Gaul”. The French and Italian word for Wales is “Galles” and the original Britons spoke a Celtic language.
- The roman genetic heritage is still obvious from the predominance of dark eyes in Wales and Cornwall, opposed to the Celtic and Germanic fair eyes.
- Wales is the land of the mythical King Arthur, the famous Romano-British leader fighting against the invading Anglo-Saxons.
- Wales was ruled by England from 1284, and officially annexed to England by the Wales Acts between 1535 and 1542. Since 1301 the Crown prince of England has been referred to Wales to symbolize this union between two countries.
- Famous Welsh actors and actresses include Richard Burton, Anthony Hopkins, Timothy Dalton, Catherine Zeta-Jones

2) собрать материал и издать туристические буклеты, книгу рецептов традиционной ирландской кухни, презентация “Добро пожаловать в Ирландию “.
3) воспитывать толерантное отношение к традициям, культуре, обычаям и нравам другого народа.
Задачи: 1) научить работать в команде с целью сбора определенного материала.
2) развивать творческие навыки по оформлению печатного материала
3) поощрять познавательный интерес к обучению.

- Hello, dear friends. We have to find out new interesting information about Ireland. During our lessons we know there are 2 states on the island Ireland: Northern Ireland and Irish republic. The capitals are Belfast and Dublin. When we study the topic “The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland” we often speak about the last unfortunately we don’t speak much about Irish republic. So we are going to collect materials about it: traditional food, national costume, songs and poems, historical events etc.
- Traditional Irish song. Try to read and translate it. Which facts are connected with historical events and geography.

- Let me introduce Ireland is the third-largest island in Europe. It lies to the north-west part of continental Europe and is surrounded by hundreds of islands and islets. The population of Ireland is estimated to be 6.2 million. Slightly fewer than 4.5 million are estimated to live in the Republic of Ireland and slightly fewer than 1.8 million are estimated to live in Northern Ireland. Traditionally, Ireland is subdivided into 4 provinces: Connacht (west), Leister (east), Munster (south), and Ulster (north). In a system that developed between the 13th and 17th centuries, Ireland has 32 traditional counties. 26 of them are in the Republic of Ireland and 6 counties are in Northern Ireland.
City status in Ireland is decided by legislative or royal charter. Dublin, with 1 million residents in the Greater Dublin Area, the largest city on the island. Other cities are:

5. As we see there are many interesting facts and names, there are some differences. If we want to know much more let’s do it together. At the end of our project we are going to show presentation, recipes of traditional dishes, guided books, national dances and costumes.
