Plans for holiday


I am a very busy person because I work a lot but sometimes I get awfully tired. I don’t laugh or smile, there is no sun in my heart; there are only stormy clouds there. It seems to me that my daily routine is so boring! I look for a quiet place, I dream to leave a noisy town and stay in a hotel or at a friend’s house, at a campsite or in the countryside. It means it ‘s time to go on holiday; it ‘s time to take a rest. It’s so exciting to make plans for holiday. My friends usually ask me: “When do you go on holiday? Where do you go? With whom do you go on holiday? How do you travel? Where do you stay? What do you like doing on holiday?” It’s not so easy to answer those questions. But I know exactly that after two or three weeks of my holiday I am always full of glorious feelings, I am ready for work and love, I am happy again.

Why don’t you sit over here. - Thank you. - You are welcome. - Nice place, isn’t it? - Yes, it’s very nice. I like to be here. - You’re from the USA, aren’t you? - I’m from Australia. I’m here on business -Let me introduce myself. I’m David Green. - My name Kate. Are you really from Australia? -Why not? I live in Sidney with my family. -Oh, just fancy! Could you tell me a bit more about your family? - With great pleasure! There’re five people in our family. They’re my mother, my wife, our children and me. I am 40. I’m a journalist. -Are you? I don’t know exactly but I think it’s so interesting to be a journalist! -Yes, it’s true. But I’m usually a very busy person. So I’m married. Have a look at my family photo. My wife called Diane, born 1965 is a famous actress and a very pretty woman. -Right, she’s really a pretty lady! -We’ve got a son called Bob, born 1987 and a daughter called Jane, born 1989. So Bob’s 13 and Jane’s 11. Our children are very nice! -Fine, I think you love them very much! -Exactly so! Could I say a word about my mother? -Sure! -My mother’s name is Ann. She is 65 but I think she’s young, because she’s very active. -Is she? Great! -Believe it or not but she isn’t a grandmother, she’s a dream! She jogs every morning, drinks only coffee and works on her computer every day. -Does she? Splendid! -Yes, she does. Even more, she often listens to the walkman. Sometimes she speaks German with her friend from Germany. But she usually talks English on the telephone. She’s a good driver! She’s always busy, but she’s never tired! -Wow! Fancy that! What’s she doing now? -She’s not at home now. She’s visiting her relatives in London. -Yes, she’s really a dream! -Quite so! The grandchildren love their Granny very much. She loves them too. So you see we are a happy family. - It was nice meeting you David. -The pleasure was all mine, Kate! Have a nice day! - The same to you! All the best! - Good luck!
