Trade turnover between China and Kazakhstan in 2010 grew by 50 percent and amounted to more than USD20 billion, exports to China increased by 72 percent, while imports from China grew by 11 per cent, akorda.kz, the presidential site reported covering the China visit of President Nazarbayev.
At the meeting with Chinese businessmen present were Minister of Commerce Chen Deming, Vice Premier Wang Qishan, director general of the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), Jiang Zemin, chairman of the China Investment Corporation CITIC GROUP Zhenmin Chan, CEO at Sovereign Wealth Fund Samruk-Kazyna Kairat Kelimbetov, Chairman of the Board of JSC Kazatomprom Vladimir Shkolnik.
The Chinese partners arranged a presentation of the Almati-Astana high speed railway to be built by Chinese companies. Together with the Kazakhstani President, Minister of Railways of China Sheng Guantszu and president of Kazakhstan's state railways Temir Joly Askar Mamin at State House watched the event at the Diaoyutai State Guest House in Beijing.
President Nazarbayev also met with senior representatives of business circles of China. Speaking at the meeting, the President noted that Kazakhstan attaches great importance to relations with China, which occupies an important geostrategic position in Eurasia and a major trade partner of Kazakhstan. "In Kazakhstan there are about one thousand of joint ventures with Chinese capital. We have actively promoted the implementation of joint projects in the energy sector," the Head of State said.
Projects in oil and gas sector include the construction of oil pipelines Kenkiyak-Kumkol and Atasu-Alashankou pipeline, the Kazakhstan-China and the Beyneu-Bozoy-Shymkent gas pipeline. The percentage of companies with Chinese participation in oil production in Kazakhstan is 20 percent. More than a quarter (26 percent) of all foreign investment in oil and gas reserves of Kazakhstan's economy came from China. The Kazakhstani-Chinese cooperation in nuclear energy is developing, there is great potential for expanding cooperation on development of uranium resources to produce fuel for nuclear power plants, setting up a joint venture for the construction and operation of nuclear power plants in China.
An important area of cooperation is the development of transportation and transit cooperation. The overall goal - integration of transport networks in Central Asia and China. The projects on construction of the international transit corridor Western Europe - Western China and the railway line Zhetygen - Khorgos serve that particular goal.
In the electricity sector with Chinese capital, the project Moinak hydropower plant on the River Charyn is worth mentioning. Projects such as the production of aromatic hydrocarbons in the Atyrau oil refinery, construction of gas-chemical complex in the Atyrau region and asphalt plant in the city of Aktau serve as solid foundation to promote cooperation in the field of industrial and innovation development. With the active participation of Chinese institutions development continues to implement major infrastructure projects in non-extractive industries.

Глава группы „UniCredit“ Федерико Гиццони исключил возможность ухода с казахстанского рынка. Центральный офис банковской группы „UniCredit“ не планировал покидать казахстанский рынок, на котором его интересы представляет АТФ-банк.
«Казахстан развивается. ВВП страны вырос в 2010 году на 8%. В текущем году по прогнозам также ожидается плюс в размере 6%. Особенно привлекателен рынок Казахстана в корпоративной сфере. Мы завершили процесс реструктуризации банка. Мы работаем над расширением нашего поля деятельности», - заявил Гиццони в рамках встречи исполнительного комитета итальянского банковского объединения «ABI» в Милане. Управление АТФ-банком будет осуществляться как и по отношению к другим «восточным» банкам группы „UniCredit“ с помощью Венского банка Австрия.
Гиццони уверен в положительной динамике развития стран Восточной Европы. «Регион активно развивается. Мы рассчитываем на то, что средний рост ВВП составит 3,8%. В таких странах как Польша, Россия и Турция ВВП может достигнуть уровня свыше 4%», - прокомментировал Гиццони. Глава концерна „UniCredit“ опроверг информацию о якобы существующих разногласиях с Председателем совета директоров „UniCredit“ Дитером Рамплом, как и сообщение о том, что Рампл подумывает о своей отставке. «По этому поводу я ничего не могу сказать, поскольку это все не соответствует действительности», - отметил Гиццони.
