Caucasus the majority of the Abkhazis together with other Caucasian peoples (of one nationCircassians) were forced to migrate to the territory of Ottoman Turkey. As of today there are diasporas of several million Abkhazian-Abghasi living in Turkey and other middle-Eastern countries. In 1921 the Abkhazian Soviet Socialist Republic was created. In 1931 Abkhazia was included in the Georgian Soviet Socialist Republic but with its own autonomous rights. After the break-up of the USSR military aggression was shown towards Abkhazia by the newly formed Republic of Georgia. In 1992-93 the Abkhazian people withstood a war in their homeland, which ended in victory and the emergence of a new statethe Republic of Abkhazia. In 1999 after a referendum the Act of State Independence of Abkhazia was passed. In 2008 the Republic of Abkhazia after another unsuccessful military attack from Georgia against South Ossetia and Abkhazia, was recognised as independent by the state of the Russian Federation. Today the Republic of Abkhazia is a partially recognised state according to international law - similar to Taiwan, Kosovo, Palestine, the Western Sahara and Israel. Abkhazia was recognised by the following UN member states: the Russian Federation, the Republic of Nicaragua, the Bolivar Republic of Venezuela, the Republics of Nauru and Vanuatu.
