In this article Moscow material and cultural losses a result of the French occupation of 1812, restoration and change of architectural view of the city under O.I. Bove’s direction are considered. The author denotes the factors which transformed Moscow in 1801–1812 in the capital of Russian romanticism. The author approves that in the period of 1815–1825 Moscow lost this role. Political and aesthetic conservatism became its distinctive feature.
