This article based on authentic documents shows a process of real liquidation of the liberal censorial code of 1804 and changes of character of publications of the leading Russian magazine «Messenger of Europe». The author shows the growth of patriotic feelings in all kinds of art, on the one hand, and the increase of cultural influence of France, on the other hand.
