Цели урока:

  1. Обобщить лингвострановедческий материал по теме: «Достопримечательности Лондона». Углубить и расширить знания по теме.
  2. Совершенствовать умения и навыки практического владения английским языком

по данной теме по всем видам речевой деятельности: аудированию, говорению, чтению и письму.
  1. Повышать интерес к изучению иностранного языка.



План урока:
  1. Сообщение темы и целей урока, фонетическая зарядка.
  2. Чтение новых слов.
  3. Речевая зарядка: общие вопросы о Лондоне.
  4. Короткие рассказы учащихся о достопримечательностях Лондона (с показом соответствующих слайдов).
  5. Чтение слайда «In shorts».
  6. Britain ’s Quiz (слайд) ответы на вопросы.
  7. Выполнение заданий по теме.
  8. Грамматический тест.
  9. Подведение итогов урока и выставление оценок.



1. Dear boys and girls. I am glad to see you at our lesson. Today we have an unusual lesson : a trip. Today we shall talk about London, about its sights, about famous people and interesting facts.

The theme of our lesson is « Trip to London» (на доске).

1).Big Ben: The Clock Tower of the House of Parliament is famous for the huge clock called Big Ben. The clock was named after Sir Benjamin Hall under whose direction is was made. He was a very tall stout man whose nickname was Big Ben. From this time the bell has been known as Big Ben.

2).London Bridge: until 1749 it was the only bridge on the Thames. In 1824 – 31 it was rebuild. In 1968 it was sold to the USA. In 1973 a new bridge was opened.

Tower Bridge was opened in 1894.

3).Trafalgar Square is the geographical centre of London. It was named in memory of Admiral Nelson’s victory in the battle of Trafalgar in 1805. The tall Nelson’s Column stands in the middle of the square.

4) The Tower of London was founded by Julius Caesar and in 1066 rebuilt by William the Conqueror. It was served as fortress, palace, prison, mint and menagerie. Now it is a museum (также рассказы о воронах Тауэра, его узниках, о хранилище ценностей).

5).Tate Gallery was founded in 1879 by Henry Tate. It has a big collection of works of English painters and sculptures beginning from the 16h century and foreign artists of 19th – 20th century.

6).Buckingham Palace is the official Queen’s London residence. Built in 1702 – 5 for the Duke of Buckingham, it was sold in 1761 to George III. London’s most popular spectacle is Changing of the Guard. It lasts about 30 minutes.

7).Westminster Abbey is a royal church and a place of Coronations. It contains many royal tombs, but the most popular are those to writers, actors and musicians in Poet’s Corner.

8).The present Houses of Parliament were built after the old palace burnt down in 1834. It contains the House of Commons and the House of Lords. St. Stephan’s Tower homes Big Ben.

9).Madame Tussaud’s is a museum which contains wax figures of famous people.

10).St. Paul’s Cathedral is Sir Christopher Wren’s masterpiece. The construction of the Cathedral started in 1675 and was not finished in 1709. Inside the Dome are scenes from the life of St. Paul. Here is a famous Whispering Gallery and there are memorials to heroes such as Wellington and Nelson.
