Askar Abdrasakov comes from Ufa and got his music education at the Ufa Arts Institute with M.Murtazina. Then in Moscow A.Abdrazakov learnt with the famous Irina Arkhipova. When a student he started to actively and successfully take part in various Contests. Mr. Abdrazakov won many awards at competitions among them at the International M.Glinka Competition, the F.Vines Competition Barcelona.1 Prize and a special prize “as the Youngest Participant” at the International F. Shalyapin Bass Competition in Kazan (1994). and many others like Pretoria, 1994, Greece, 1995, International M.Callas Moscow, 1998, International S.Rakhmaninov . Since then A.Abdrazakov performed in the USA and Japan, South Africa and Greece, Italy, Austria, France, Spain, countries of the CIS. He sang on the stage of the Bolshoi Theatre (as Prince Gremin in “Eugene Onegin” by P.Tchaikovsky; as Prince Igor and as Kontchack in “Prince Igor” by A.Borodin; as Tzar Boris in “Boris Godunov” by M.Mussorgsky) and on the stage of the Mariinsky Theatre (as Ruslan in “Ruslan and Lyudmila”, as Kotchubej in “Mazepa” by P.Tchaickovsky, as Prince Igor in the opera of the same name by A.Borodin) The world premiere “Visions of Ioann Grozny” (opera by I.Slonimsky, staged in Samara, with M.Rostropovitch) became a remarkable event in the singer’s career Abdrasackov performed the part of Tzar Ioann. In Paris at the Chatelet A.Abdrazakov performed the part of the Bonze in “Le Rossighol” (by I Stravinsky, with the BBC Symphony orchestra, conducted by P.Boulez) and the performance was revewed in the biggest cities of Europe: Brussels, London, Rome, Seville, Berlin. A.Abdrazakov has become the first singer from Bashkortostan to perform on the world-famous opera stages: Arena di Verona, 1997 - as Ramphis in “Aida”, as Zaccaria in “Nabucco”, with Leo Nucci; The Metropolitan Opera, 1998 - with pieces from Russian classical operas: “Ruslan and Lyudmila”, “Mazepa”, “Prince Igor”- in a concert of the Mariinsky Theatre opera troupe; La Scala, 1999 - as Kotchubej in“Mazepa”(by P.Tchaicovsky, orchestra conducting by M.Rostropovitch) and the audience enthusiastically greeted him: “Bravissimo, Kotchubej!”. Later on A.Abdrazakov performed the parts of: Attila in “Attila” (G.Verdi, Berlin and Triest); Ramfis in “Aida”(G.Verdy, Lisbon); Count Walter in “Luise Miller” (Barcelona); Grand Inquisitor in “Don Carlos” (with famous N.Ghiaurov, Bologna, Parma); Raimondo in “Lucia de Lammermoor” (by G.Donizetti, Barcelona); Tzar Saltan in “The Tale of Tzar Saltan” (Florence). He also sings concerts and oratorios, like the “Requiem” ( G.Verdi, performed in Italy, South Africa, Russia), “Stabat Mater” (J.Rossini, Tbilisi of Georgia) or in russian romances (by A.Borodin, S.Rakhmaninov, P.Tchaikovsky) that the singer includes in chamber programmes, one of which was performed at “Carnegia Hall” in New-York (1996). In Colmar, France, at the festival in honour of the outstanding russian singer F.Shalyapin, A.Abdrasackov (and “Moscow Virtuosi” orchestra conducted by A.Spivakov) performed compositions from Shalyapin’s repertoire.
