Hen: Look, Father, how nice our little son is! Sonny, my dear sonny, say “How do you do” to your father!
Chicken Little: How do you do, daddy!
Cock: How clever our son is!
Hen: Now, my darling, make a pretty bow!
Cock: Oh, my dear sonny, you are strong, you can do everything!
Hen: Now I must go and get some crumbs and seeds for you, my dear little sonny – boy!
Cock: And I must go and cry cock – a – doodle – doo.
Hen: My, dear son, you may play here in the yard!
Chicken Little: Yes, mummy! Good bye, daddy! I am clever, I am strong, and I can do everything.
Chicken Little: I am clever, I am strong, I can do everything.
Frog: Croack, croack! Hello, Chicken Little!
Chicken Little: Hello, Frog! Look at me! I am clever, I am strong. I can do everything. Mummy says so, daddy says so.
Frog: Can you jump? Look!
Chicken Little: Of, course, I can! I can do everything! Mummy and Daddy says so!
(He begins to jump, falls down and cries.)
Chicken Little: Mummy , mummy! Oh, my leg!
Hen: I am here! Oh, my poor little chicken!
(She bandages his leg.)
Hen: Now, now, here are some crumbs for you! My poor little darling!
Cat: Miaow! Hello, Chicken Little! Are you ill!
Chicken Little: hello, Cat. I am not ill. I am strong. I am clever. I can do everything. Mummy and Daddy says so.
Cat: And can you say “miaow”?
Chicken Little: I can do everything! Listen: peep, peep, peep!
Cat: But it is not “miaow”, it is “peep, peep”. And can you catch rats?
Chicken Little: Oh, yes, I can. I can do everything.
(The rat appears.)
Rat: Hello, Chicken Little, can you catch me? Chicken Little, catch me, catch me!
(The Rat runs, Chicken Little runs after it, then the Rat looks round, turns and runs after Chicken Little. It bites him on the head.)
Chicken Little: Mummy, Mummy, come here! My head, my head! Oh, oh, Mummy!
Hen: Oh, my dear, my poor, little sonny – boy! Don’t cry!
(She bandages his head)
Hen: Here are some seeds for you. My poor little child! Are you well now? Yes, you are, I see you are. You can eat seeds.
Frog: I don’t think he is clever.
Rat: I don’t he is strong.
Cat: What can he do? He can do nothing.
Chicken Little: But I am strong, I can do everything. Mummy and Daddy say so!
Rat: But it is not true!
Cat: No, it is not true.
Rat: You must learn and learn.
Frog: Then you will be clever.
Cat: Then you will be strong.
Rat: then you will be able to do everything.
Frog, Cat, Rat: (together) But now you are only a silly little chicken! Good bye!
Story – teller: Do you like this fairy – tale? And here is another fine story for you. It is about greedy Cat and clever Mouse. Look: the Cat is sitting at the table in the garden. She has a plate of soup in front of her, a plate of porridge, a jar of milk, some butter and some sugar.
(Fairy – tale “The Magic Boots”)
Cat: My soup is thick and very good! I’ll put some butter in my porridge and some sugar in my milk. My porridge is sweet. And the plate is large.
Mouse: Mrs. Cat, I am very, very hungry! Please, give me some soup.
Cat: Go away! Go away! There is no soup for you!
Mouse: Well, I’ll sit down and look at the moon. Mrs. Cat, do you like the weather?
Cat: Yes, I do.
Mouse: Do you want to dance?
Cat: Yes, I do.
Mouse: Then why don’t you dance?
Cat: I can’t. I don’t know how.
Mouse: I can show you. Wait a little!
(Runs away.)
Story – teller: Look! The Mouse is running to the village. A shoemaker lives there. The Mouse goes up to the Shoemaker.
Mouse: How do you do, Mr. Shoemaker?
Shoemaker: How do you do, Mrs. Mouse! What can I do for you?
Mouse Have you a pair of red magic boots? I want to give them to the cat.
Shoemaker: You are my friend, my dear Mrs. Mouse. I will give you the magic boots. Here you are.
Mouse: Mrs. Cat, put on these red boots. You can dance in them. You can dance all night long. Musicians, come here.
(The music plays. The cat dances. The Mouse runs to the Cat’s table and begins to eat out of the plates)
Story – teller: Now the Cat is dancing and the Mouse is eating her supper! But look: the Cat can’t stop!
Cat: Dear Mouse! Stop me! I am very tired!
Mouse: Oh, I can’t stop you. The red boots are magic boots.
Cat: Oh, stop me! Stop me! I am very, very tired!
Mouse: No, you must dance all night long. And I will eat up your supper.
Story – teller: So, the cat dances all night long and the Mouse ate up all her soup. Are you sorry for the Cat? I am not, because she is very greedy. And that is the end of the story.
(A dancing)
Story – teller: Have you read the book “Adventures of Tom Soyer” by Mark Twain? Of course, you did. It’s funny and very interesting. And now Tom, his aunt and Backi are here with us. Welcome them!
(Tom and Aunt Polly)
Aunt Polly: Tom! Tom! Where can that boy be? Tom! If I catch you, Tom, I’ll … Tom! What? In the cupboard again?
Tom: No, aunt Polly.
Aunt Polly: No? Look at your mouth! Look at your hands! What is that on them?
Tom: I don’t know, Aunt!
Aunt Polly: But I know. It’s jam. I’ve told you so many times. don’t touch that jam in the cupboard. Give me that stick!
Tom: Look behind you, Aunt!
(Tom runs away)
Aunt Polly: What a boy! Why can’t I learn? He has often done that. But I can’t beet him. He is my sister’s boy.
(Song “Tom and Backi”)
Story – teller: The next fairy – tale is “The Swineherd”. Do you know who the Swineherd is? It is in Russian «свинопас». So once upon a time there lived a king and princess, who was very naughty. She didn’t love anybody. But a prince loved her very much. Once she got presents from the prince.
Knight: My prince sends same presents to the most beautiful Princess in the world. He wishes to pay her a visit.
Princess: Ah, I think these must be lovely presents! Perhaps its a little pussy – cat!
1 st Lady –in – waiting: Oh, it is a rose!
2 nd Lady –in – waiting: A very fine rose!
3 rd Lady –in – waiting: And it smells so sweet!
King: Indeed, the rose is not bad!
Princess: Fie, dad, it is a real one!
Ladies –in – waiting: Fie, it is a real one!
King: Well, let us see the other present.
1 st Lady –in – waiting: Oh, it is a nightingale! What a beautiful bird!
2 nd Lady –in – waiting: It can sing such sweet songs!
3 rd Lady –in – waiting: Such a nice little bird!
Princess: It is a real one?
Knight: It is a real one.
Princess: Oh, let that bird fly away then! No, no, the prince must not come! I don’t like his presents!
(To the ladies)
Princess: Let us go and play!
Story – teller: Then the Prince painted his face black put a plain cap on his head knocked at the door.
King: Come in!
Prince: Good morning, Your Majesty. Can I get some work at the palace?
King: Well, well… Let me see! I want a new prime minister, but you are not good enough for that office. Your face is dirty. Ha, ha! Would you like to be the king’s swineherd? I have a lot of pigs, and you can look after them. Yes, that will be just the thing for you. Go now. You can begin your work at once.
Story – teller: So the Prince looked after the kings pigs. One day he got something and he worked hard all day long. By the evening he made a small pot.
Prince: (with the pot in his hand) now it is ready! Oh, my dear Augustine, Augustine, Augustine! Oh, my dear Augustine, Augustine, Augustine!
Princess: Oh, do you hear the song, ladies? Why, I can play it myself with one finger. It is beautiful.
Prince: Good morning, my beautiful ladies! Have a look at my pot.
Ladies: Oh, how fine! How fine! What a beautiful little pot!
Prince: It is a magic pot! If you hold your finger above it you can see what all the people in your town are cooking for their dinner.
Princess: Oh, I want to have a pot, indeed I do. I like to know what my neighbors have for dinner. It is so interesting! (To the 1st lady) Go and ask him he wants for his pot.
1 st Lady:Hm… hmm… listen, young man, how much do you want for the pot?
Prince: I must have ten kisses from the Princess.
1 st Lady: Good heavens!
Prince: I won’t take less.
Princess: Well, what does he say?
1 st Lady: I really can’t tell you. It is shocking!
Princess; Then you must whisper it! (Lady whispers) He is a fool! Let us go away! (They turn to go away, but again they hear the song)
Prince (sings) Oh, my dear Augustine, Augustine, Augustine!
Princess: ( to the 1 st lady) Go and ask him if he will take ten kisses from the ladies – in- waiting!
1 st Lady: Yes, my lady! (Goes to the swineherd) Hm… Will you take ten kisses from the ladies – in – waiting?
Prince: No, thank you, ten kisses the Princess or I keep my pot.
1 st Lady: The swineherd said “No, thank you, ten kisses the Princess or I keep my pot.”
Princess: Oh, what a wicked boy! Then you will have to stand round me, so that no one may see. Tell him to approach!
2 nd Lady: Come here, please!
(The ladies stand round the Princess and the Swineherd)
Prince: Now, you may have your pot.
Princess: I am so happy! Now we shall know everything about the dinners in our town.
2 nd Lady: We shall know who has cabbage soup and pancakes for dinner and who has roast beef?
3 rd Lady: How interesting! The pot is very useful.
Princess: Yes, but don’t tell dad! Don’t tell anybody! Don’t forget I am king’s daughter!
Ladies: No, no, we won’t tell.
Story – teller: Next the swineherd - that is the Prince – made a musical box. It played all the waltzes, polkas and mazurkas in the world.
Prince: (holding the musical box in his hands). Let us play a waltz. And now polka.
Princess: How lovely!! What fine music! (To the 2nd lady). Go and ask him what he wants for his box, but no more kisses.
2 nd Lady: Good afternoon, sir! What will you have for a musical box?
Prince: I want a hundred kisses from the Princess and no less!
2 nd Lady: A hundred kisses! He says he wants a hundred kisses from the princess and no less.
Ladies: A hundred kisses! A hundred kisses!
Princess: He must be mad! Let us go away and play! But the music is so beautiful (to the 3 rd Lady) Tell him he can have ten kisses from me like yesterday and he can have the other 10 kisses from the ladies – in – waiting!
Ladies: But we don’t like that all!
Princess: Oh, nonsense! If I can kiss him, you can do that, too! And don’t forget you are my servants. Go to the swineherd at once.
3rd Lady: Good afternoon, sir! May we have your musical box ten kisses from our Princess? And the other kisses you will get from the ladies – in – waiting.
Prince: A hundred kisses from the Princess and no less!
3 rd Lady: Oh, my Princess, he wants a hundred kisses from you and no less!
Princess: Oh, what a nasty swineherd! Well, then, let him to approach! And you will stand round, like yesterday, so that nobody may see us when he kisses me! And you must count the kisses! No more than a hundred!
(The ladies come around and count the kisses).
King: What is that I see? (Rubs his eyes and puts on his spectacles). Why, there are ladies – in – waiting? Is that a new game? I must go and see (He walks up to the group on tiptoe). What’s all this? Get out! Get out of my kingdom! (The Princess and the Prince are leftt alone. She begins to cry).
Princess: Oh, what shall I do? I am so unhappy! And where is the Prince now?
Prince: I am here. And I want to say a few words before I go. I thought you are pretty and kind, but now I know you are not. You did not want to listen to nightingales songs, but you kiss the swineherd because you wanted to have a dirty pot and a musical box that plays silly polkas! Now I see what you are and I don’t want to marry you. Good – bye forever!
Princess: Oh, for ever! Oh, dear! I’m so unhappy!
Storyteller: So it happens with bad girls. Don’t be so greedy. And now another magic fairy – tale. You all love it very much. It is Cinderella! And I know every girl wants to be Cinderella. Who is it?
(Song “Girl”)
Cinderella.
1 st daughter: Cinderella, bring me a comb.
Cinderella: Yes, sister.
2 nd daughter: Cinderella, pin a lace to me.
Cinderella: Yes, sister.
Stepmother: Cinderella, you have made dresses for us. They are perfect. But now there is still much work to do.
1 st daughter: And you, Cinderella, would you like to go to the royal ball?
Cinderella: Ah, you don` t say so, sisters. You are making fun of me. No one will let me in the palace wearing this dress and shoes.
2 nd daughter: There is no denying the truth. It would be funny if such a slob appeared in the ball.
Stepmother: Are you ready, my daughters?
Daughters: Yes, mother!
Stepmother: And, Cinderella must plant no roses, bake a pie for us and make supper, clean the rooms, wash the floor and … don’t forget to water all the trees in the garden. Then you may go to the ball.
(Go away)
Cinderella: Oh, I’d like to go so much to the royal ball. I learned to dance when I swept the floor, I learned to sing when I fed the poultry, and I learned to make a bow when I worked in the garden, but still I can make it perfectly. Look! ~ Oh, how I desire to be on the ball!
Godmother: What’s the matter with you, my child? You would like to go to the ball, wouldn’t you?
Cinderella: It’s true. But how can that be when I have no finery to put on. Only a lot of work.
Godmother: Do not worry, my child. You shall have the prettiest dress and look the loveliest of all ladies there. And now run to the kitchen garden and feltch me a big gourd from there. It will be an excellent coach, gilded from the roof to the weels. The mice will be grey colored horses; a rat will be a coach man. Very well then. Now you own the equipage and you can without wasting time to go to the palace. Well, are you satisfied?
Cinderella” Very much! Thank you, dear Godmother. But how can I go to the royal ball wearing this old dress, staind with cinders?
(Godmother touches her dress with a stick).
Cinderella: Oh, great thanks, my grandmother. (Try’s to run away)
A boy: Dear Cinderella, I am not a magican. I only want to be a magican. But friendship helps us to make real wonders. Every morning I see how you work, how you help all the birds and animals and I love you very much. And this is my present to you. (Gives beautiful shoes)
Cinderella: Oh, thank you very much, dear boy! They are so beautiful!
Godmother: Go my child, attend the ball. But you must return before midnight, because after it the spell will not work.
Cinderella: Don’t worry, I won’t be late.
(Music)
(Palace.)
(The Prince and the King are on the throne. All are dancing.)
King: Who are you my dear child?
Cinderella: I am a stranger here.
Ladies: Ah, she is so good looking. Who is this smart lady? Where has she come from? Is she a fairy?
Prince: I have not seen such a fascinating person for a long time. Let me introduce myself. I am prince. And you?
Cinderella: It doesn’t matter.
Prince: Let me invite you to the dance
Cinderella: With great pleasure.
(Dance)
Prince: You dance so lightly and graciously. I admire more and more.
(The clock strikes)
Cinderella: Oh, excuse me. Farewell, my dear Prince!
Prince: Where are going? What’s the matter?
(Cinderella runs away)
King: Where is our wonderful guest?
Prince: She disappeared.
King: Why? What’s the matter?
Prince: I don’t know. She only left this shoe.
King: Isn’t it? I shall sent servants with this shoe to travel throughout the kingdom and to find the owner of this shape. We shall find her, my dear boy. Don’t worry.
Prince: I’d like to I love her so much, my father. She is so beautiful, kind and clever. She dances so graciously.
(Cinderella’s house)
Cinderella: Oh, you have already returned. How do you like the ball? What was interesting there?
1 st daughter: There was a princess so beautiful, so beautiful, that you wouldn't see a better one even in your dream! She took a sit near us and treated us to the oranges and lemons.
Cinderella: And what is her name?
2 nd daughter: Well, nobody knows it. The Prince seems to be really to give a half of his kingdom just to know who she is.
1 st daughter: She hurried so much that even lost her crystal shoe on the fresh hold.
2 nd daughter: And the prince picked up and did not let it slip out of his hands till the end of the ball.
Stepmother: Perhaps he is over head and ears in love with this beauty that looses the shoes on the balls.
(The servant comes).
Servant: The king announced for all to hear to the sounds of trumpets and fanfares that a girl whose foot would fit the crystal shoe perfectly well, would become his wife. Now, dear ladies, I shall try this shoe on you. Please, you, sit down here.
1 st daughter: With pleasure (Try’s on, but in vain)
Servant: Oh, what a pity!
1 st Daughter: Shet!
Servant: (to the 2 nd daughter) and you? (Try’s on) Doesn` t fit.
2 nd daughter: Damn it.
Servant: And you dear? Will you sit down and try this shoe on? Oh, it suits! This is the prince’s bride!
(Prince Comes out. Music Dancing
Story – teller: Our party is going to an end. Its fun to listen to a fairy – tale. It’s fun to imagine that you are a prince or a princess, its fun to be a child!
