Toyota Corolla TS
The Hatchback forms the basis for the most exciting Corolla ever launched into mainstream production - the new Corolla Т Sport. The Corolla will be the third model to carry the Т Sport badge which signals Toyota's commitment to deliver consistently outstanding driving pleasure through different models of its line up. The new Corolla Т Sport will be powered by the latest version of the 192 hp (141 kW), 1.8 I VVTL-i (Variable Valve Timing and Lift - intelligent) engine currently found in the Celica Т Sport, linked to a 6-speed manual gearbox.
Along with the more powerful engine, the new Corolla Т Sport will also receive up-rated suspension, brakes, a unique interior treatment with eye catching red optitron meter and sporty trim elements.
The key Corolla Т Sport features are unique to the Corolla Т Sport and are in addition to or replace some of the key features listed for the Corolla three- and five-door Hatchbacks.
Note: Grades, specifications and equipment may change from country to country. Please refer to your country specifications lists to determine which features are available as standard or optional equipment.
Powerful, Refined Performance
The engine
The responsive, quick and powerful, four cam 24-Valve 3.0 litre V6 engine with aluminium block and cylinder heads changes the driving experience of the all-new Lexus RХ300. The engine produces 150 Kw (204bhp) of power at 5600 rpm, has a top speed of 200kph/124mph, impressive torque figures of 283Nm at 4500 rpm, low emissions at 288g/km and is Euro IV-compliant.
Engine technology
> Continuously Variable Valve Timing with Intelligence (VVT-i) Through the use of an engine computer that monitors and diagnoses both the engine operation and the demands of the driver, linked to VVT-i camshaft controllers, a constant valve timing is achieved which is optimally suited to the engine's operating condition. The benefits of this technology are improved torque and smooth acceleration over all rpm, ranges, better fuel economy and reduced exhaust emissions.
> ETCS-i - Electronic Throttle Control System - intelligent technology has done away with the conventional acceleration cable connection by replacing it with an electronic accelerator pedal position sensor. This sensor continually sends the electronic throttle commands of the driver to the engine computer. Once received, the engine computer calculates the optimal throttle valve opening appropriate for the driving condition and uses a throttle control motor to control the opening. The use of this technology benefits the driver by providing excellent throttle control in ail the operating ranges,
> TAPTC - Torque Activated Power Train Control is technology that is designed to work alongside and with the ETSC-i. TAPTC adjusts the throttle setting to maintain the optimal throttle valve opening most appropriate for the driving conditions. As a result, excellent throttle control and comfort in all operating ranges, as well as smooth start-off and overtaking acceleration have been achieved.
> ACIS - Acoustic Control Induction System technology basically divides the intake manifold into three stages (world-first). An intake air control valve opens and closes varying the length of the intake manifold in accordance with the engine speed and throttle valve opening. By using this technology, increased power output over all rpm ranges, from low to high speed, is realised.
> DIS - Direct Ignition System is responsible for improving the ignition timing accuracy, reducing high-voltage loss and enhancing the overall reliability of the ignition system by eliminating the need for a distributor. Iridium-tipped spark plugs are used rather than platinum-tipped spark plugs to improve ignition performance and reliability.
> AAFIS -Air Assist Fuel Injection System technology is designed to optimally regulate the air intake and direct air to the nozzle of the 4-hole type fuel injector. This promotes better atomisation of fuel while reducing emissions, improving fuel economy and smooth idling.
