  4. I’m going to the USA with my parents to visit my uncle.
  5. I want to learn as much as possible about America, that’s why I’ve read a lot of different books about it, about its people, history and nature.

  7. As you know, the USA lies in the central part of the North American continent.
  8. It borders on Canada in the North and on Mexico in the South.
  9. The main rivers of the country are the Mississippi and the Missouri.
  10. The USA is washed by the Pacific and the Atlantic Oceans.
  11. The climate varies [‘vFqri] from one part of the country to another.
  12. The total area [‘Fqriq] of the USA is more than nine million square kilometres [‘kilqu,mi:tq].
  13. When Christopher Columbus discovered [dis’kAvq] the New World in 1492, about one and a half Indians [‘indjqn] lived there.
  14. Now the population of the USA is nearly 250 million people.
  15. The capital of the USA is Washington.
  16. It was named after the first American president, George Washington.
  17. The USA is a federal republic consisting [kqn’sist] of fifty states and ‘federal district of Columbia.

  19. The president is the head of the United States.

  22. It was adopted in 1776, and it is the oldest Constitution in the world.
  23. New York is the largest city of the country.
  24. Other large cities are Sun Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago and Dallas
  25. I hope to learn much more about the USA during my visit there.
